Knock Knock!

Louise Davies Prayer + Fasting

I became a Christian as a teenager at a Billy Graham Crusade. Over the past forty years I have seen God move miraculously time and time again. I have seen financial breakthrough, relationships restored, miracle babies, healings, dream jobs, as well as experiencing God’s provision, comfort, and care. Does God answer prayer? Absolutely!

However, for all the answered prayers in my life there are lots of seemingly unanswered prayers too. There are family and friends who are not in church, diseases not healed, financial needs unmet, and a whole heap of breakthroughs still lingering on God’s to do list. I have no idea why God has answered some of my prayers and seemingly hasn’t acted on others. It is very frustrating! So, what should we do when we are not experiencing the ’yes’ and ‘amen’ of God’s promises? We knock!

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus told the story of the persistent widow. The widow kept asking the judge for justice against her adversary, and the judge kept refusing. The temptation would be to give up and accept her lot, but the woman kept knocking and knocking and knocking and knocking until the judge opened the door.

It may feel as though as your knuckles are bruised and bloody for knocking on the door for many years, but may I encourage you in this time of prayer and fasting to knock again.

Knock for that family member.

Knock for your health.

Knock for your finances.

Knock for your miracle.

Keep knocking! Refuse to give up.

“God! I am here again. I am not going anywhere. I have knocked on this door many times and will keep knocking until it opens. I am steadfast in my belief that this door will open. Amen.”

Can you see it? The door handle is turning.

Can you hear it? The door hinge is creaking.

Can you believe it? The door which has been shut is now opening!

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7:7
